Strategic Advisor for Beauty Brands

Co-founder di Cosmesidoc

I support beauty brands and companies in making strategic decisions that truly shape the future of a project: positioning, brand development, packaging and go-to-market strategies.

I work with Italian and international companies that want to build, launch or reposition a beauty brand in a more robust, consistent and competitive way.

In particular, I also support foreign companies and brands wishing to develop cosmetic products in Italy, making the most of the opportunities offered by the Italian cosmetics supply chain and bridging the gap between concept, product development, packaging and market strategy. Italy continues to be recognised as a key hub for innovation, production and specialisation within the cosmetics sector.

Strategic advisor for cosmetic brands

In the beauty sector, many critical issues arise when strategic decisions come too late:

when the product has already been defined, the packaging has already been chosen and the communication must adapt to a framework built without an overall vision.

My role is to help brands and companies to:

  • define positioning before communication
  • build a brand consistent with the product, target audience and market
  • avoid structural errors and budget wastage
  • view packaging as a strategic lever, not merely an aesthetic one
  • improve dialogue between those who develop the product and those who build its value in the market

For international brands, this also means being able to rely on strategic support capable of facilitating relations with the Italian cosmetics supply chain: manufacturers, laboratories, packaging partners, regulatory bodies, suppliers and stakeholders involved in development. This bridging role between brand vision, product development and market strategy is a central part of how I work.

An approach built on strategy, branding and packaging

My career began in the worlds of communication, publishing and design, developed through experience in agencies and established companies, and has been consolidated through consultancy work for emerging cosmetics brands and established players.

This has allowed me to develop a highly practical approach, based not only on strategy but also on an understanding of the real dynamics that shape a beauty project:

  • internal decision-making processes within companies
  • relationships between marketing, product development and sales
  • the limitations of standard models
  • the importance of sustainable choices over time

Over the years, I have combined my strategic work with an increasingly direct involvement in branding and packaging design, focusing on the relationship between visual identity, materials, pack structure and brand perception.

Packaging, especially in the beauty sector, is not a secondary element: it is often a decisive factor in the product’s positioning and commercial appeal.

Developing cosmetics in Italy: why many foreign companies look to Italy

Developing cosmetics in Italy is not simply a matter of finding a manufacturer.

This means having access to a state-of-the-art supply chain, encompassing expertise ranging from formulation to packaging, from filling to finishing, right through to research and development.

For an international brand, however, the quality of the supply chain alone is not enough. It also requires the ability to translate the brand’s vision into clear briefs, to understand which stakeholders to involve, to coordinate branding, formulation, packaging and pricing, to avoid misunderstandings between creative ambition and industrial feasibility, and to build a project that is coherent not only in production but also in the marketplace.

This is where my work comes in: helping the brand make stronger decisions at the outset, so as to better harness the potential of Italian-made cosmetics.

Cosmesidoc is the project I co-founded with the cosmetic formulator Dr Mara Alvaro.

It began as a cosmetics consultancy and has evolved into an organisation that combines strategy, market insight and formulation expertise, with the aim of supporting beauty brands and companies in a more systematic way.

Within Cosmesidoc, my focus is primarily on:

  • brand strategy
  • packaging strategy
  • go-to-market
  • decision-making support for founders, managers and companies
  • coordination between brand vision, product development and the operational supply chain

This integration is particularly important for those wishing to avoid one of the most common mistakes in the beauty industry: having product developers and those responsible for crafting the brand narrative, positioning and perceived value work in silos. It is precisely this connection between product, strategy and market that defines our approach.

How I work with beauty brands and companies

Every project is different. There is no one-size-fits-all formula.

I generally support brands and companies that are in a phase of evolution, for example:

  • launching a new beauty brand
  • developing new product lines
  • repositioning an existing brand
  • reviewing packaging and its strategic consistency
  • structured consultation for founders, CEOs or marketing teams
  • international projects seeking to expand through Italian partners

My aim is not to rush things at all costs, but to help companies build stronger foundations before moving into the operational phase.

If you have a foreign brand and want to develop your products in Italy

If you have a beauty brand or company abroad and are considering developing your cosmetic products in Italy, I can help you structure the project even before entering the production phase.

This may involve:

  • clarifying the brand’s positioning
  • refining the product proposition
  • aligning branding, packaging and commercial strategy
  • improving communication with Italian partners
  • reducing errors, wasted time and inconsistent decisions

Italy offers great opportunities in the beauty sector, but turning them into a real advantage requires strategic vision, coordination skills and an understanding of the supply chain. This is the foundation of my work.
